Set up a TradingView alert

Where the Webhook URL and the Message come from, where each goes in your TradingView alert, and what TradingView asks of you first.

Your own signal trades when its TradingView alert fires. The alert needs two things from the signal's page: the Webhook URL and the Message.

What TradingView asks for

These are TradingView's own rules, set in your TradingView account:

  • A TradingView plan that sends webhook alerts: Essential or above. How many alerts you can have depends on your plan too.

  • Two-factor authentication switched on for your TradingView account.

Copy them from the signal

  1. In the side menu, choose Signals and press the signal. On a desktop, Webhook on the signal in Automation opens the same page. No signal yet? Create a signal.

  2. Press Copy beside Webhook URL.

  3. Press Copy Message in the Message box. Use the buttons, so that nothing is cut off.

The Webhook URL is the same for all your signals. The Message is what tells them apart.

Make the alert in TradingView

  1. Open the chart your strategy or indicator runs on.

  2. Create an alert. For a strategy, set its Condition to the strategy. For an indicator, choose the indicator's condition that matches the signal's Trade type.

  3. In the alert's Message, replace everything with the Message you copied, exactly as it is. The parts in double braces are filled in by TradingView each time the alert fires.

  4. Under Notifications, tick Webhook URL and paste the Webhook URL.

  5. Press Create to save the alert.

The chart's symbol doesn't decide what is traded. Each account trades the instrument you chose for it in Automation.

One alert per signal

  • One alert serves every account the signal is on. Add or remove accounts in Automation, and the alert stays as it is: Put a signal on an account.

  • Don't paste the same Message into two alerts. Each would send the signal, so it would arrive twice.

  • A TradingView alert keeps the settings it was created with. After changing the strategy's settings, the symbol or the timeframe, create the alert again.

  • After renaming a signal, or editing an indicator signal's parameters, paste its new Message into the alert.

Check it

The test center checks your accounts without waiting for TradingView: Test a signal. When the alert itself fires, the signal shows in Activity. If it never does, see My TradingView alert did not arrive.
